my report for 2nd assignment

At first, everyone in the group have no idea on what to do. Due to time problem, one of our group members sent her work to us in Microsoft word file and we using her file as our reference on finishing our profile page, product review and notes review.

My part was introducing the different portable music player to the technology gadget lovers. I get all my information from Google search. By the way, after decided which brand and model of portable music player to introduce, I start searching the video from YouTube.

After I finish all my work in Microsoft word, when I wanted to transfer it to Microsoft FrontPage, I only realize that my computer have no Microsoft FrontPage software. Despite, I am tending to download the trial version of Microsoft FrontPage from the internet. Again, I search in Google by typing Microsoft FrontPage free download. This time I really met up with the trouble, I have no idea why I can’t download and most of the result that Google searched is to download the tutorial of using Microsoft FrontPage. At that moment, there are just one idea came out from my mind, which is using the notepad to finish my HTML creation. During searching, I was accidentally seen this web designing software which is Microsoft Expression Web 3. Finally, I successfully download this program and using it to finish my HTML.

Microsoft Expression Web3


This program is almost the same with Microsoft FrontPage. With using this program, I find out this is much more convenient than using notepad. What I have to do is just to copy paste all my work from Microsoft word to this Microsoft Expression Web3 and the HTML code will automatically created.

The only one problem that I met is I can’t upload the video. Even though I copy the embed code from YouTube and paste it, it also not work and showed a box written “A control type was not specified or the specified type could not be found” like the image above.
Due to that problem, I try to ask from my group member what to do and they suggest me of using Adobe Dreamweaver. By using Adobe Dreamweaver, I successfully upload three of my video for each of my product.

I am there to introducing my each portable music players by using photo, a brief explanation of the product and a table which to intro the product deeper for the readers. Those tables that I use for 3 of my product are having the same information. This is easier for the readers to do comparison between these three products which is Samsung YP-U3 MP3 player, Sony walkman MP3 and Archos Gmini402 camcorder.
By the way, I am also link the URL link to the website and a video demonstrates how to use on that particular product. The demonstrating video and the URL link are to provide more information to the readers which are interested on the particular product.

For my note review, I am reviewing some of the file format that usually used in the portable music players which is WAV (wave format), MIDI (musical instrument digital interface format) and MP3 (moving picture experts group series 3) from our lecturer Ms. Shahrinaz notes.

From this assignment task that given to us, I have learn how to use the Microsoft Expression Web 3 and Adobe Dreamweaver in just a very basic way and I wish to know deeper about these two software on how to using on it. I felt that these two soft wares is so easy for the people who wish to create a website and I believe there is much more interesting stuff that I still do not know for this software. Of course, the teamwork is the most important thing that I learned from this assignment.

My assignment report

process and method



at first we do the coding process, by using 'Notepad'. We have used 3 days for doing this assignment. The first day we have create all the information that we wish to placed in our page without any decoration and background.

The second day, we decided to make our page look nicer and add on with the background image . On that day iself, we have fail to upload our work in the web server.

The third day, Syeet yeng and I met the lecturer in the lab class and consulting Ms Sha.



The process of coding is the most difficult part for us. Since me and syeet yeng is not so good in all this IT stuff ,so, we are finishing this assignment by refering Ms Sha's notes and asking friends.

we are using Microsoft Office Word to find out the font type and we search the html color code and image from google as well. We also using photoshop cs3 to resize our background photo too.



the technologies and tool



ok, i have just learnt how to use with the notepad. I felt that this was so miracle, i never thought that i can do all this coding in the pass. Last time, i jus know how to copy and paste the code to decorating my layout of my friendster and blog and now i can create some simple html by myself.



By the way,through this assignment i were just get to know the the Bravehost.com free web hosting site. Same as what i tell at the top, i have no idea with this website in the past until i need to complete this assignment.



During debugging the HTML code



this is the most difficult stage for us. At first, we are using Microsoft Office Word to find out the font type that we wish to use and after that followed by using google search to find out the html color code!!



By the way, we realize that not every computer can view all the font type. There are certain computer which cannot view certain of font type, for example, Castellar and chiller font type cannot be viewed in UCSI computer lab's computer.



The most difficult part is during we wanted to upload an image as our background. I have get an image from google which is the origianl size of that picture is 1280x960 pixels. After i uploaded this image as the background, it pop out alot of same image at the page. I wish the page is just fill with one image only, therefore, i enlarge the size of the image from1280x960 pixels to 2400x 1800 pixels with using photoshop cs3.



web hosting server



we have decided to use bravehost. Geocities.com need to pay,so, we plan to choose bravehost.com as our webserver. By the way, i felt that Geocities is so complicated as well



uploading the files to the web server



during uploading the file to the web server, both of us really get some difficulty at this stage.

At first, i thought that we just need to upload our notepad to bravehost then everything will be done. Unfortunately, it was not just that easy. By consulting Ms. Sha and friends, we knew that we need to upload the image to the web server as well.



Blog



well, since i have a personal blog and i have used to do blogging also,so, i am not really met any problem in this stage.



Conclusion



as a conclusion, i have learnt how to use the notepad and the bravehost.com web server like what i have mention on the top.

if there was a chance for me to work on this assignment again, i wish i can make it more fancy. i will try my best to decorate our page as attractive as we can do it. But, what we have done for this assignment i felt proud of it. This is because, i never thought of i will have my own page and i did really learnt alot from this assignment. By the way, i wish i can learnt more deeply on coding.
